Typical Cruise

Seasalter Sailing club during some of the Summer weekend evenings does some cruising activities. These are normally just play sails giving people a chance to practice or just take family out for a ride. We do from time to time cruise down the River Swale to a riverside pub in Faversham Creek called the Shipwrights Arms (in fact I don't actually know how to get there by road ! it is possible but I haven't the foggiest).

The latest club cruise took place on Saturday 31st May to take the place of the postponed powerboat course. I took my camera along to record our trip to the Shipwrights, Participants : Chirs & Lesley Stafford, David Lincoln and Martin Searle :

The wind turned into a lovely force 4 and as a result good sailing conditions. The photos were all taken during the run down the river by Martin Searle sailing his Dart 15 in Sprint mode so I rather had my hands full !, no photos exist of the beat back due to everyone being a bit too busy ! with the actual sailing. The photos show in order : Photo 1 : Departing the beach Lesley Stafford has yet to join her Dart 18, Photo 2 : A view from Dart 15 1331 of the Dart 18, Photo 3 : A shot of the bows of the Dart 15 , Photo 4 : Dart 18 at a slight angle its tough juggling Mainsheet, Traveller, Jib sheet, Tiller extension and Camera at the same time !, Photo 5: Arrival at the pub the banks are muddy ! and you have to judge when to jump out because the bottom drops steeply into the main channel close in shore this time everyone managed it ! Photo 6 : The pub itself is rather pretty I think and makes a quaint Journeys end. The other boats seen in picture 5 come from Whitstable Yacht Club who also had the same brain wave obviously.
