Club Sailing Legends !

(errm .... well; sort of ... ahem!)

This is the current league table of those members who have had one of those little mistakes or errors that get talked about back in the clubhouse. In other words this is one league table you definitely don't want to come top in! Perhaps there will be a prize for the league winner at the end of the season.

To Qualify as a Sailing Legend you need to:

a)      Have performed an act of stupidity or silliness with humorous consequences for others (not necessarily the performer)

b)      Done something that you really should have known better you shouldn't have.

Ben Saunders Ben took his laser out one day and managed to break the kicking strap, so therefore retired, he then took out Alan's Hell cat and he managed to snap one of his bridle wires so that the mast nearly fell down.
Michael Lenon On The Open Fowley race Mike Managed to sail straight past Fowley island, so he followed all the other boats (which were on the 'Round The Island Race'). When our patrol boats caught up with him, He Was waiting for the tide to drop so he could get under Kings Ferry Bridge!
Kevin Dutch This Man Rarely Capsizes!! How Ever In The Dickie Wren 6 Pursuit Race He Pitch poled His Boat Not Once But Twice. He Still Managed To Finish The Race In First Place!!

For sailing his Solo under water (the water level was up to the Boom) while returning to the beach, during a cruise in a force 6 wind (Without breaking it)

Sailing Legends 2004!

It’s rare for a single incident to produce so many legendary occurrences but this year we had the honour of witnessing such an event. The incidents within the Vice Presidents Cup final race will be talked about for many a year.

Winners

Bill Tipple and Mark Wilkinson

Synchronised diving off Bill's Topaz during a very windy race.

1=

Bob Walker

For helming said Dart 18 with Jeff and for delivering the ironic line: "Should we replace the shrouds before we go out?" to which Jeff answered NO. Also for showing a remarkable ability to climb up 50 degree inclines.

1=

Steve Willis

For his part in the 'rescue' of the patrol boat during the Vice Presidents Cup.

1=

Chris Stafford

ANOTHER navigational error this time mistaking a silver pole with a traffic cone on top for a grubby brown pole with an orange can on top. This mistake forced Chris to retire the race on return to the beach.

1=

Jeff Kiddle

Swinging around the back of a dart 18 and becoming a sea anchor causing overloading to its shroud bringing the mast down.
