Open Fowley 2006 - 9th September

This year the race was a great success weather wise however there was only one visitor in the race and they came down in there RS 400 from Brighton who ended up winning the slow handicap race.

The wind was blowing force 4 -5 From the East which meant a nice run down to Fowley island. However during the same day the round the island race was going on, so the swale was very crowded with boats

On the way down to Fowley island it wasn't too bad as we were all going in the same direction, but after rounding the island we were going back against them.

Michael Lennon however decided we wouldn't go around the island!! In stead he wanted to go all the way around the island. The Patrol boats Followed him most of the way to kings ferry Bridge!!

Well done Mike!

In the end the patrol boats had to pull back 3 boats due to tied crew or lack of tide. so I know every one of those especially want to thanks the helms and crew of the safety boats.

In The End: Steve London and Josh won it for the Fast handicap in a Dart 18 with Jeff Kiddle coming 2nd In His Sprint 15 Sport and Steve and Joan Willis in there Dart 18, 3rd

As For the Slow Handicap: Simon & Penny Atkinson Won it In There RS 400 From Brighton, Followed by Phillip Hadaway & Tom Leonard In Phil's Miracle, 3rd was Alex Jibb in his Solo who was beaten to 3nd place by Phil in the last 50 meters of the race.

I Know that everybody would like to thank the patrol boat crews Especially those who they helped! also I know a lot more people helped especially when the patrol boats turned up, so a big thanks goes to them as well.
